That is why we will discuss how to replace a Frigidaire Gallery water filter today! Here we are focusing on refrigerators and dishwashers since these devices are the most reliable on a water filter.
How To Replace The Water Filter In A Frigidaire Refrigerator
Even though these refrigerators belong to the same brand of Frigidaire, they differ a lot in terms of design and functionality. That is why the methods of replacing their filters vary quite a lot. So we are here to walk you through each of the four water filters produced by Frigidaire.
● PureSource Ultra
This line of filters is specially made for the refrigerator line called French Door. The PureSource Ultra water filters are capable of removing contaminants with a success rate of up to 99%! It is also certified by WQA and NSF. You can rely on it for adding some vibrant berry-red color to your refrigerator as well!
To remove the existing PureSource Ultra water filter from your fridge, just push it once and then pull it out. Take the new filter and get rid of its protective caps. Put this in the empty place of the old one and push it enough to secure the new filter. Now run the water for around three minutes and see if it is working properly.
● PureSource 2
As you can tell, this is the second edition of the PureSource line of water filters. It also helps to wipe out 99% of the contaminants. While the Ultra one was a push-push filter meant for French-Door models, this is a cassette filter meant for refrigerators after 2004.
The process of replacing a PureSource2 filter is pretty similar to the previous one. Here you need to push the release button so that old filter comes out on its own. After removing it, prepare the new filter by taking off its protective caps. Slide this new one in until you hear it click into the position.
Now take an empty glass or container and keep filling it up with water of this refrigerator for about three minutes. This will make the water run long enough to get the filter ready and prime it before the real use.
● PureSource 3
This filter is very similar in shape and design to the PureSource 2 water filter. You will be able to identify it from the upper right-hand corner of your fridge.
Open up the refrigerator door and spot the water filter. Similar to the other models mentioned above, you will need to push this one to take it out. However, this time, it may take a little more effort since the push needs to be slightly more forceful.
After you have slid out the old filter, prepare the new filter to take its place. This new one should have two horizontal ridges – along the top and the side. These will help the filter to sit securely in place. So slide it right into the slot of your older filter and push until you hear the click.
Now run about two gallons of water through the refrigerator so that you can remove all the sediments. Start using the filter on a regular basis after completing this step successfully.
● PureSource Plus
If you have a refrigerator of Frigidaire manufactured before 2001, you will need a PureSource Plus water filter to replace your current one. This one is made in a cup shape and is easily identifiable in the front portion of a refrigerator. You will need to twist it off in a counterclockwise motion for removal.
So remove its housing first with a twist and then take out the filter inside. Then remove the protective shrink wrap around the new filter. Insert this vertically into the previous slot with the nozzle side up. Now put the housing over it back in place by twisting in a clockwise motion.
To make the new filter ready for regular uses, let the dispenser run water for three minutes or more. This will prime the filter enough for safe usage.
Note: Remember to do change the water filter every six months for ensuring the best quality of filtered water for your refrigerator!
How To Replace The Water Filter In A Frigidaire Dishwasher
Although the Frigidaire Gallery dishwashers come with a default water filter, you may need to change it if its material is clogged or damaged.
Turn Off The Power Source
The water filters of a dishwasher look very different from the refrigerator ones. They are much bigger in size and completely circular in shape with a hollow center. Make sure to turn off the power source of your dishwasher before replacing the filter.
Start Disassembling The Filter
Then open up the dishwasher door and take out the lower rack completely. Now you need to disassemble the filter part. Start by rotating the little tab around the wheel up to 90 degrees. This will release the whole part and expose the old filter to you.
Install The New Filter
Separate the main wider filter from its central base filter. Place this smaller base one inside the large new filter after cleaning both the parts. Secure it by passing the base through your new filter, pushing it down and rotating a little until you hear the click.
Assemble the whole setup just like before and place the lower rack back in its position. Close the dishwasher door, plug it in and turn the water on to test the new filter!
Now that you know how to replace a Frigidaire Gallery water filter in the perfect way, you don’t need to rely on an expert anymore!
It is very easy to do and takes only a few minutes. So enjoy drinking clean water every day or washing more efficiently with your new water filter!
